Fernando Mega,born on the 6 of April of 1960 in Alfama, Lisbon, Portugal .Fernando was a very talented football player who started playing at a very young age for important teams in Lisbon like Sporting Clube de Portugal but it was the Fado his first love. It is not uncommon in Portugal that a child starts performing at an early age. He left the football behind to start a carer as fado performer and he wins many Fado song contests .With 22 years of age only in 1982 he wins the most popular Fado contest in Portugal " The Great Night Of Fado ". On the same night of the contest there was a special performance by Amalia Rodriges ,"The Queen of fado".

Fernando Mega was ready to the next level in his young fado career.In March 1982 he joins the private cast of the «Estalagem Nossa Sra das Preces in Cascais» then move on to Timpanas Fado Restaurant In Alcantara , A Severa, Adega Mesquita in Bairro Alto, Restaurant Lisboa á Noite , Adega Machado and many more traditional Fado Houses.

His singing career, developed to the point of he performing in many locations around Portugal like Porto periodically and for the Portuguese communities around the world.

Like all the Portuguese people also Fernando Mega has the spirit of the adventure and in 2003 he decided to move to England where he thought there would be better prospects for his now long career by singing for the large Portuguese community and all the Fado lovers in London.

 

 

He is exposed to the fado songs at an early age, like every children growing up in Alfama, traditional place for fado. Alfama is the oldest district of Lisbon, spreading on the slope between the Castle of Sao Jorge and the Tejo River.Alfama has influenced poets and novelists, and although Bairro Alto is the city's traditional Fado quarter, it is Alfama that has always been the inspiration for Fado songs, and is becoming just as popular with Fado Houses.
